Mercury is now retrograde in Pisces where it is said to be in its fall, in detriment. It doesn’t like to be in Pisces. (Or so it’s said.) I’ve watched the pulse of the collective quicken with held breaths as this transit approached.
The thing is, there’s never a bad transit. There’s never celestial medicine we don’t need. And while Mercury appearing to move backwards is true for all of us, how we experience it is personal.
Mercury was in Pisces when I was born, so a) it’s energy I am studying for my PhD in Life – I understand it pretty well – and b) this is exactly why I love Evolutionary Astrology, because we always hold the belief that everything is perfect. Energies we are born with as well as the moving heavens are exactly what the soul needs to spiritually evolve.
Maybe Mercury – the planet of communication, the mind, curiosity and learning – has a slower, squishier experience in Pisces. It has to swim with the fishes through the subconscious realms, sometimes in circles, to have clarity BUT it’s learning and gathering information with every flip of its fins.
Sometimes we need to go backwards to deepen the understanding. This time to address matters of Spirit, compassion, oneness, the subconscious mind, interconnectedness, the high heart – all the territory of Pisces. We are revisiting themes here. No surprise.
If Mercury is in Pisces, it needs to be there and if it’s retrograde, we need the opportunity for stillness to reflect on lessons we think are complete but really need to go back, review and correct.
Like checking over a quiz before turning it into the teacher.
My experience with this particular cycle has actually been one of opening flow. Since Mercury took an about face, the energy has been moving more easily for me personally.
Yes, our street hasn’t been plowed and we haven’t had trash pickup or mail delivery (complete with lost packages which is Mercury retrograde-esque) in almost a week because of the snowstorm, but in other ways the flow is flowing more harmoniously. In part because Mercury in Pisces is what I’m built with.
The reason I’m bringing this up is because at the core of my purpose is to help you understand that ANY metaphysical experience is yours and yours alone – to integrate for the advancement of your soul.
Any energy (belief, culture, mindset…) is highly influenced by the energy inherent in your astrological makeup, as well as all the moving parts of your relationship with the heavens.
It’s all between you and God.
Just because Mercury retrograde can wreak havoc on the collective, doesn’t mean it will for you personally. So if you’ve been anxious about the hubbub, take a breath and know that your angels have your back. This is celestial medicine.
