Journaling with cards

The card deck I used in this month’s video is Bonestone and Earthflesh, by Avalon Cameron. I love it for the artwork (by Ana Tourian) but I love it for the card descriptions as well.

Yes, I reference the book for this deck. 😉

If you know my teachings, you know that I always encourage putting the book aside and using your own senses first. Once you’ve done that, then get the book out (if your angels agree!)

Why? Card reading is always about strengthening your relationship with Source, not about understanding the mindset of the author – which can also be insightful and inspiring, but isn’t the point of reading cards. It can be harder at first, but learning to rely on your own senses ultimately gets you closer to your own truth.

I often reference the book here, because the author has assigned an archetype to each of the cards to help anchor in the message. I love this. Her card descriptions are expressive and soulful. I love this too. Lastly, she has included journaling prompts for each card that I have found to be quite helpful.

As promised in this month’s video, here are a few of her prompts for each of this month’s cards. I suggest choosing just one or two to stay focused. Please note: this are all quotes from her book.

The Chariot
What are you heading towards right now?
What is your true path?
In which areas of your life must you take charge?
What can you do to pay it forward?
When did you last taste success?

The Lovers
What does it feel like when you balance the masculine and feminine aspects of yourself?
In what ways do you find yourself being cooperative in different situations? [Note: I find this wording a little confusing. One approach is to think how/when you might compromise your truth.]
What are you yearning for?

4 of Cups
How often do you feel you are bored?
When have you felt a sense of completion from an emotional perspective?
Were you ever groomed to be something you had very little interest in?
Where in your life do you hold back?
