It's Sunday, August 30th as I type. The angels have given me no heads up about what to write about until a few minutes ago. "Page 15," they say.
So I pull out today's Providence Journal, turn to page 15 and it's obituaries. No, that's not my inspiration.

My winged friends insist what I need is within reach without getting up, so I grab the only other piece of reading material within arm's length: Planetary Threads by Lynn Bell. A fascinating study of the astrological themes that thread through ancestral lines. I'm extremely drawn to it, because 5 family members that I know of, including me, have Mars in the sign of Cancer. And 5 have Venus retrograde in Aries. No need here to dive into what that means.
What's significant is that it points to working through not just personal karma, but also the karma of our bloodline.
Lynn writes, "It is said we carry the genetic imprint back eight generations, far enough that we may no longer remember the names of our ancestors. Their strengths and accomplishments are part of our foundation, as are their trials and difficulties. Often, mysterious connections and parallels are found between their lives and ours. We may be asked to finish something they began, without even knowing anything about it. Invisible family loyalties have greater power than we imagine, influencing the choices that we make. We may need to honor our inheritance through a particular task, without abandoning our own path." [Then she points out some astrological signatures.] "Only then can we be released to live our own life."
What a mystery, eh?! To consider that an endeavor begun 8 generations ago may be karma we are navigating today. I can definitely see it playing out in some ways, but makes me curious about the ways that are still hidden.
