It’s not your fault. You may feel like it is – somewhere inside, this guilt eating away and causing you to believe that you’ve somehow contributed to the chaos and upheaval in the world. If even a tiny sliver of you resonates with this idea, the world stage could be triggering feelings of overwhelm, depression, anger, anxiety or just plain discouragement.
But… awareness is medicine.
Knowing where this guilt may be coming from can be freeing and help to unlock necessary healing.
I actually had a different plan for this newsletter, but the angels tapped me on the shoulder with a, “No, write about this please.”
Some of this post is heavy, but hey, the truth can be that way.
And…the truth shall set you free.
I promise to close this out on a high note and pray I can bring you a slice of peace.
So I offer you 3 reasons you may be feeling like shit right now.
Possibility #1 – You have learned about the Law of Attraction and given it much credence. What you think, you create. What you believe, makes you who you are.
While I personally believe there is great truth in the Law of Attraction – in fact, for years the angels have insisted that this is the only Universal Law that matters – there is a shadow side. A shadow side the ego LOVES to master and manipulate.
According to the Law of Attraction – applied strictly – we are responsible for EVERYTHING that comes into our reality. The cat poop that sweet kitty inadvertently brought into bed, the overdraft notice from the bank, the loud neighbor, the crankster at work, the moldy fruit just purchased, the political divide among family members…the world.
While it’s important to keep a positive mindset, when hard stuff happens, is it then my fault because I woke up with worries in my heart? No, I don’t think so. And even if that is true, the guilt that follows, does nothing but harm and perpetuate the cycle of self condemnation.
If we’re really holding strong to a belief in the Law of Attraction, a little bit (or more) of self-judgment happens with every bit of yuck. The ego jumps in with an “I told you so! There is no God who loves you like I do.”
And we pile on the guilt, shame and all those “less than” feelings.
Aren’t we then expecting ourselves to be perfect? To accomplish – and succeed at – an impossible task?
Possibility #2 – You have learned about the holographic model and given it much credence. You’re creating everything. Per the quantum field, if you can’t actually lay eyes on something (like a war), it’s not really happening.
My guides have insisted that the holographic model is true and real. And that it fits quite nicely with the Law of Attraction when applied in alignment with Source.
But we’re still in human bodies. With human consciousness. And human feelings.
We see photos of people carrying their dogs and cats 17km to the Ukranian border and it hurts. We read headlines of bombings and all kinds of atrocities and it hurts. We see ocean levels rising and storms and…it hurts.
These hurts then all bump up against this belief that we’re creating everything. “It’s a holographic model, so I must be projecting it. All this must be a reflection of something I carry within me.”
And guilt, shame, whatever…comes up.
Again, aren’t we then expecting ourselves to be perfect? To accomplish – and succeed at – an impossible task?
Possibility #3 – We get what we deserve and we don’t deserve goodness. This is slightly different from the Law of Attraction angle, because with this we’ve been taught that we are “less than” since birth. We are not divine beings. We are not connected to God as a birthright. People are simply doomed from the get go.
I don’t feel this in a religious sense as some folks do, but I do feel it in a carbon footprint kind of way. I know I use way more resources than is sustainable as a 1st world woman living in a house in a colder climate who travels and buys avocados from Mexico. This is where the bulk of my collective guilt work lies.
But we all have our personal take on this. Guilt and resultant punishment.
And again, aren’t we then expecting ourselves to be perfect? To accomplish – and succeed at – an impossible task?
If you’re still with me, your shoulders may be drooping and your spirit may be sagging a bit.
Thank you for being here and please stay with me.
Awareness is medicine.
I’ve been doing this Lightworker dance for 20+ years now and driven down many different avenues of belief around spirituality. I am connected and chatting with God and my angels constantly. My faith – with many stories to prove it – is unshakeable.
The one thing I can say for sure is that there is so much I don’t know about how the Universe works. Law of attraction, holographic model, religious doctrine, spiritual texts (I’m a big fan of A Course In Miracles) – these are tools, guidelines, helpful (or not) resources. All created by humans who by definition have a limited view of Divine Intelligence.
I often think we have such a desperate need to know, we lean in hard to beliefs that don’t represent the whole picture. We make them absolute so we can then believe in them more strongly.
I believe there’s more to the divine mechanics of the Universe. We will never know all of it, but we can let go and follow guidance.
Guidance built on the foundation of Love. A Love that doesn’t insist on perfection, but instead on forgiveness.
To this end, I don’t know if the Law of Attraction or the holographic model are true and real. Maybe they are? Maybe they aren’t. Maybe they are, but not exactly as we understand them?
These absolutes we apply in the name of spirituality can hold a container for learning and enlightenment, but they are tools.
And at the end of the day, we are called to remember that we are loved. No matter what.
Healthy doses of humility and curiosity are essential and give pause to the ego’s work to make us feel all that “less than”.
I believe that we are loved so very much that our only task is to forgive ourselves.
To Love ourselves and one another.
