The angels have been nudging me to share some of my favorite books. Summer is a yummy time to kick back, grab an iced tea and cozy up in the sun with a good read.
Here are a few of my favs…
Reading suggestions to learn, grow and BE inspired
Anatomy of the Spirit: The Seven Stages of Power and Healing, by Caroline Myss – this was the first metaphysical book I ever read and it opened my eyes in a HUGE way. Great read, intellectually stimulating and hard to put down (at least if you’re an energy junkie!)
Understanding Human Design: The New Science of Astrology: Discover Who You Really Are, by Karen Curry – Karen is a friend and gifted teacher of Human Design. I’ve known her for years and was thrilled when she released this new, comprehensive guide to the complicated topic of Human Design. She’s done a great job making it understandable, My favorite part? The affirmation exercises!
Wheels of Life: A User’s Guide to the Chakra System, by Anodea Judith – another one of my first metaphysical books and a great reference for working with the 7 chakras.
Divine Magic, by Doreen Virtue – I love Doreen’s work, but this is my favorite (next to Archangels and Ascended Masters!) She explores the 7 Hermetic Principles in an easy to follow style. Definitely a must for anyone who wants to learn about the process of manifestation.
Change Your Thoughts – Change Your Life: Living the Wisdom of the Tao, by Wayne Dyer. I love Wayne Dyer. Is there anything he’s done that isn’t fabulous? Not that I know of!
The Promise of a Pencil: How an Ordinary Person Can Create Extraordinary Change, by Adam Braun – I saw an interview that Marie Forleo did with this fascinating young man and was sold. His mission is pure, powerful and kicked me into high gear with my own life mission. Warning: be ready to get off your butt! 😉
Reading suggestions to tickle the imagination – perfect for summer!
The Language of Flowers, by Vanessa Diffenbaugh – I read this while we were in St. Lucia this past winter and devoured it with glee. If you love flowers and heartwarming tales about young women…I won’t share more, or I might spoil it. 😉
Garden Spells…or really anything written by Sarah Addison Allen. I’ve read all her books…whimsical, sad, heroic and always full of imagination… The Sugar Queen, The Peach Keeper, The Girl Who Chased the Moon. I am thrilled to discover she has a new book, Lost Lake. Like the Wizard of Oz for grownups.
Lunch in Paris, a Love Story with Recipes, by Elizabeth Bard – I savored this book this past spring. It was one of those ones that reads quickly but you take your time because it’s so yummy. Recipes included!
Aleph, by Paulo Coehlo. Inspired by his personal journey of self-discovery, this amazing author takes us on his travels on the Trans-Siberian railroad. His crisis of faith is resolved and his sense of realistic reconciliation gave me much needed hope at the time I read it (a few years ago.)
Remember Chocolat (movie: Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp?) – the lesser known sequels by by Joanne Harris are just as delicious. The Girl with No Shadow takes mother and daughters to Montmartre and in Peaches for Father Francis, Vianne and her girls return to the village of Lansquenet.
You can certainly tell that I love to live in the imagination…isn’t that where the magic happens? 😉
Now that I’ve shared a few treasures from my book shelves, I’d love to hear your favorites! Please comment below or come on over to our Facebook page and join in the conversation!
Cheers to a summer of sharing, fun and imagination!
With love,
Rev. Elvia
